CHIN 1A - Beginning 中国人    ( 5.00 -单位)
Introduction to the 中国人 cultures of the world featuring the study and practice of the four language skills (听, 说话, 阅读, and writing) of Mandarin 中国人. Following an immersion instruction format, the class is entirely taught in the target world language of the selected course.

  1. Demonstrate proficiency in understanding and use orally the grammatical structures presented and 词汇表 assigned.
  2. Demonstrate proficiency in understanding and use in writing the grammatical structures presented and 词汇表 assigned
  3. Demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of the culture, including formative historical events and relevant geographical information.

CHIN 1B - Elementary 中国人    ( 5.00 -单位)
Further study of the 中国人 cultures of the world featuring the acquisition of the four language skills (听, 说话, 阅读, and writing) of Mandarin 中国人 begun in 中国人 1A. Following an immersion instruction format, the class is entirely taught in the target world language of the selected course.

CHIN 2B - Advanced 中国人    ( 4.00 -单位)
This advanced 中国人 course is designed for students who have completed 2A or equivalent. Students should know at least 800 中国人 characters and essential and advanced 中国人 grammar patterns before they register to this course. The emphasis is on building up students' communicative skills in both 说话 and 阅读 through learning activities in class. 说话, 听, 阅读, and writing of Mandarin will be further practiced within a cultural framework at the high intermediate level.

Review of grammar; practice in conversation and composition; research on topics related to 中国人 culture and literature. Following an immersion instruction format, the class is entirely taught in the target world language of the selected course.

Introduces the everyday life and traditional culture of 中国人-说话 people. Following an immersion instruction format, the class is entirely taught in the target world language of the selected course.
